Argentina. Salta

HUMAHUACA GORGE & IRUYA (2D/1NT)

 

Day 1: departure from Salta towards north. The first destination is the small town of Purmamarca where the famous Hill of the Seven Colors is located; we also visit the Church and the craft market in the main square. The route continues, passing through Posta de Hornillos and towards the town of Tilcara, where we visit the Pucará. We return to Huacalera, passing the Tropic of Capricorn from where you can see the colors of the hill called La Pollera de la Colla. Then we continue to Uquía where we will visit the Church, where the paintings of the Arcabuceros Angels (important vestige in the area of the Cuzqueña School) are kept. Arrival to Humahuaca: this important town is famous for its Church and the Independence Monument (El Indio) by the sculptor Soto Avendaño. Passing through the village of Iturbe and Abra del Cóndor (3900 m.a.s.l.) we arrive at the mouth of a small ravine where the picturesque town of Iruya of pre-Hispanic origin is located. Overnight in Iruya.
Day 2: departure to Salta with a visit to the city of San Salvador de Jujuy. Arrival to Salta in the afternoon.
